"The Democratic Party isn't what it used to be for us," she said. "The philosophy used to be if the Democratic Party was in power everybody got a piece of the pie, and if the Republicans were in power the rich got a piece of the pie. Now, nobody is getting a piece of the pie."

Frustrated and desperate people are easy to manipulate. Are they actually expecting their situation to change with a Republican administration?

After reading the article these people do not seem to believe so. I concur with their belief.

Unfortunately not many others do.

That is about the worst thing they can think. Why support the party that got them there in the first place?
Granted I am in their boat, like many people that obama has not turned out to be the president we were all hoping. He was for hope and change, it turned out to be watered down bills and sweetheart deals to the republicans and big business. Obama is pretty much a progressive republican.
The only way to really get things back on track is a real, brass balled core democrat like a grayson, dean, or weiner.

Ok, you favor extremism. That puts you in the same boat as the Tea partiers.

But his extremism is more noble than libertarians or fiscal conservatives.

But please consider that blue collar skills are too abundant these days. There are still jobs but with way more people with the skills to fill them.

Meanwhile, our globalized, service oriented economy creates a different type of job that is harder to fill and easier to outsource abroad.

So consider that maybe you have not adapted to the times. And at least the Democrats have saved alot of jobs (especially blue collar) with the stimulus. Though you'll refuse to beleive that...

By the way, I don't expect to see unemployment rates much better then the current 9.5% anytime soon (or ever). Technology has seen to that...
