Well, there are car snobs. It always reminds me of dogs when they sniff each other out. Now, I can see just talking about cars, or asking questions, but to jump all over a person because they drive this or that is kind of silly. If it has good mileage, clean emissions, and the basics, it's a good vehicle. I admit to missing the oldies. Volkswagens used to be the butt of jokes during my hippie days, but they were great cars. Not fond of Hummers, or gas guzzlers. Cars that belch fumes, and make noise are on my hit list. To me, the best car, foreign, or domestic, is the one with the least amount of problems.

Buy American the profits stay in America, buy Japanese the profits are shipped back to Japan. I guess it depends which country you want to prosper.
Car companies are multi-national, multi-global enterprises. Toyota's profits go to its shareholders. Anyone can buy Toyota's shares on the major exchanges.
It's a simplistic view to believe that the profits go back to the respective countries. That only holds true if the car company is owned by the government.
Toyota is not, unless you have something to prove otherwise?

I just replaced the carrier bearing on an 06 Dodge Diesel, failed at 57k. I bought the new bearing from the Dodge dealer and it was stamped Made in China.
Could really care less. However, I would ask that someone show me any car made anywhere in the world that doesn't contain parts made in Japan.
Components. American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN! - Lev Andropov, from the movie Armageddon.
