Did you just equate LGBT rights to the Civil Rights struggle in the 60s? If you did, hope you know that is very insulting to black people and other minorities
How is it insulting to black people? Equating equal rights to only black people is insulting to the LGBTQ people, to asians, to mexicans to any race that is not white. The equal rights movement was to ensure and protect the rights of all citizens, not just black people. Why do so many people think that equal rights was only for African Americans? We all deserve the same exact equal rights regardless of our sexual orientation, sex, race, income or age. Setting aside a group of people for a different set of rights is just plain wrong and opens the door to bringing back the days when blacks did not share the same facilities as white people. Remember that the American Indians suffered the same discrimination as Blacks, if not worse because they were not even accepted as US citizens in their own land.

You do know that a "tribal" Indian is part of an INDIAN Nation - not a subject citizen of the USA. The Indian tribes are foreign sovereignties with respect to the U.S. government.
Any relationship between the members of a sovereign tribe and the government of the U.S. is based on treaty.

Yes I did know that. I am a white male that was raised in a Mexican/American Indian family. Are you aware that the American Indians were not recognized as citizens of the US till the 1970's? African American blacks got their equal rights before American Indians did. Some day in the future this will all be history and wonder what all the fuss was about.
Wow, right wing heads will explode over this one-- How will they balance their bigotry with their love of states' rights? Or are they only for states' rights when it comes to things like being against the Civil Rights Act of 1964?
The court should decide. Most of the voters in the U.S. are conservative. So we already know that outcome.

Federal gov has no business one way or another getting in this issue.
This doesn't mean much for matrimonial gays because conservative states will strengthen their laws. They will find something similar to the grandfather clause to take the control out of the hands of matrimonial gays.
