If you thought candidates with FAKE military service were bad, no we have one that just makes up FAKE veterans!
Captain Basnet was fighting in Iraq when was injured in battle. He was flown back to the USA and put into Walter Reed Medical to treat his extensive injuries. But he forgot to send his absentee ballot from Iraq to the Georgia Elections Office. He then calls the Georgia Secretary of State and tells them he has been injured and is in Walter Reed. They tell him that since he is state side now, they cannot allow him to vote. Later, his commanders come and award him the Purple Heart. With tears in his eyes he says "I would give this back if only I could vote".
The only problem with this story is that it never happend and Captain Basnet is a totally fictional charactor made up by Republican Doug MacGinnitie who wants to be elected Secretary of State in Georgia. It was in a mailing he sent to thousands of voters in the state.
There is not a day that goes by that the Republicans do not find a new low to sink to!

You have hit upon the primary difference between a Democrat and a Republican. The Democrats are allowed to have their own opinions, they are not required, to walk in march step with the Party.

I always enjoy Hillary's story of how she had to duck for cover from sniper fire on a runway in Bosnia, but actual video showed her being warmly greeted and receiving a gift.

Everybody knows that those candidates are both fringe nuts and that they are not gonna win. This candidate is SERIOUS.

and that is exactly what those idiots in Washington bank on. The back and forth finger pointing and sniping by those who vote them into office. These politicians don't have to do a thing, they don't have to tell the truth. These politicians on both sides can continue to lie, play word games and know that as long as the media is there (all of them) their pensions can continue to grow.
Nope its not ok. It's asinine and I think he should be thrown off the ballot for disgracing true soldiers by claiming to be one.
