DOC ECONOMOU (http://www.doceconomou.com/portfolio/southside_works.htm - broken link)

Check out that new hotel/condo that is being built at South Side Works. That is quite an impressive development. I felt like I was getting too old for The South Side. The South Side has something for anybody. It would hard to find a cooler neighborhood ANYWHERE!

Very cool indeed. Soffer, the developer of most if not all of South Side Works, also has plans for a few more taller buildings, in addition to an expansive park connecting the core of the development to the riverfront . Hopefully it all pans out as proposed.

Those are definitely nice. I like what they're doing on Baum-Liberty, also. I just hope some of these places are somewhat affordable for young professionals.

Toby Keith restaurant coming to SouthSide Works

I'm kind of horrified by this. I thought the SSW people were trying for a upscale chain environment.

I know. I think there are definitely better upscale chain options to pick from for the SSW. Toby Keith would fit better in a suburban shopping area, IMO.

I think it's bad too, but I'm not really surprised. I can picture tons of the crowd from the saddle-ridge just down the road on east carson st. soaking it up.

To each his own. The Business Times story from today says that other Toby Keith restaurants are in suburban Minneapolis, suburban Detroit, and suburban Phoenix, so I guess it's good news that they saw potential in the center city and are opening at the SSW. At least we know it won't be surrounded by acres of asphalt parking lots. The more the merrier.

And actually, the Toby Keith Restaurant that is in Vegas is very expensive and not anything like Saddleridge in character or clientele.

"Very expensive"? I must be very out of touch...the most expensive thing, by far, on the menu is a t-bone for $26.99. The majority of entrees fall between $10.99 and $15.99.

See for yourself...a typically boring, mass-market craptacular chain menu.

Just going by what I have heard from others and postings that are on the www.barsmart.com forums. But from what I see on that menu, it is pretty standard pricing just like any other chain restaurant.
Never been to Saddleridge, and don't plan to be visiting Tobys place either. Not saying anything wrong with either of them, just not my style. I tend to like the linen tablecloths at the Duquesne Club instead.
