So I want to get away from Xfinity and Verizon. I found an alternate but there is little data that I can find. Has anyone in the PA or Eastern OH had experience with Windstream Internet?

Does Verizon offer Fios in your area? Because it is the best deal in the Pittsburgh area by far, and is also the most reliable.

Can't deal with Verizon's incompetence. I bought a bundle and 5 months later they could not get my house to work. My house before I bought it had been one of the earliest homes with Verizon and apparently was provisioned out of NJ instead of Philadelphia, and until they get that figured out I was using my AT&T phone on tethering for internet service and the dvr was a joke. Finally got that figured out with no action on my request for refunds on no service, but it did work for about 3 months. Happy times... Until 4 times a day for 15 to 60 minutes my internet, phone, and tv services went down. I left them and they wanted to charge me for an early exit. I told them to sue me. I would love to tell this to a judge. So no Verizon is not an option. THOUGH their people who came to the house were friendly enough and one of the guys who visited is the one who figured out the provisioning issue.

FiOS is expensive and Verizon is an annoying company to deal with.
I think the best deal for internet in Pgh is TMobile Home Internet.
I have it now, and I've had both Xfinity and FiOS previously.

i swear by comcast.

average customer service AT WORST. I sometimes have gotten to speak to nice people on those occassions that required human-to-human telephone contact.

its a great price. i get a free, HUGE library of tv viewing on their complimentary peripheral they used to call a "flex box".

the internet is fast, and cheap for what i need. im not doing multi-player games, though.

i very much like comcast, but think Verizon is a ****ing nightmare. Someone I know went to FIOS after YEARS of contemplation on it to break away from their comfort zone. its been a nightmare since - settings on the phone change at will, it seems - some people are blocked, others have say their name before they are patched through, and they get trepid and hang up.

the phone goes off line - no calls come in. somehow calls go straight to voice mail for no apparent reason....its ridiculous.

isnt there just a standard landline provider some people might want, w/ just voice mail and caller ID that isnt terribly expensive. no other bells and whistles required....sheesh.

They all want you to spend $160 a month. That is the goal. FIOS is crap. Comcast will do the same after two years. I don't know about T-mobile. Interested.

Reviews from other areas are glowing, and then 3-6 months later nothing but complaints due to over saturated conditions. In 15203 you can get 300/300 Fios internet for $40, $35 if you use Verizon Wireless. Comcast charges $65 for internet only and the speed is something like 50/3.

Never thought I’d see people praising Comcast over Fios. Wild…

I have switched back and fourth between Comcast and Fios. I find them about the same as they give you a year or two of a good price and BOOM they hammer you after that. I think Comcast has better TV options. Internet is about the same for my use.

I look at them as the same. They both want $160 a month one way or the other.
