I watched a video on youtube about Japan. One of the points the guy made was that all the people with surgical masks on aren't just germaphobes or OCD... they're wearing them because THEY'RE the ones that are sick, but they're just so considerate that they wear the masks.

Then I go to work the next day, where snotty and visibly sick people paw over the donuts someone brought in. AMERICA!

What do you want him to tell you about the Coronavirus/vaccination?

Oh, I don't know, maybe check with the experts in his government (CDC?) before blurting out something he heard from a less reputable source?

The Japanese, being an island nation and very singular culture, have done this for as long as I can recall. It's a courtesy, but also very practical way to contain communicable diseases.

How do you know he didn’t? How do you know he just blurted it out after hearing from a less reputable source just because someone else said something different?

There are countless articles everywhere talking about a vaccine and/or a cure for those that already have it yet that doesn’t mean much.

Vaccines don't just appear out of thin air. Having a vaccine and delivering it widely are two different things. Here's an article regarding a Zica vaccine that said it would take years even if the clinical trials are expedited. I am not in the healthcare field but I kind of knew this about vaccines because I read and have an inquisitive mind. I don't see a lot of evidence of that in the President in this case: https://qz.com/751478/why-it-takes-s...-new-epidemic/

So in other words you have no idea...”but Trump”.

IMO an interesting article. https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.jpost...ine-619101/amp

Did you read the artical? They said that the best case is to have APPROVAL in 90 days. That's the end of May. Getting it to scale is going to take A LOT longer. And if this is as virulent as it appears to be it might be too late. I think the whole idea behind vaccines is to have a percentage of the population immunized BEFORE the virus has spread.

I am not blaming Trump. In fact I think he is acting in a similar way as the Chinese leadership in initially minimizing the concern, so as not to cause widespread panic, which ultimately lead to distrust of that government. I don't think we want to risk that happening here, so he needs to consult with his experts and convey realistic expectations. Let's see what happens. But this certainly isn't going to be anything like contained by April.

Correction: President Trump said at a meeting of US governers that the virus might "go away in April" with warmer weather. He did not allude to a vaccine at this meeting, but did later say that a vaccine was close to being developed, but the White House later clarified he was referring to an Ebola vaccine. https://www.statnews.com/2020/02/26/...n-coronavirus/

I'm late to the conversation, but today I did my once weekly trip to the Asian buffet off Noblestown Road in Westwood (most would say its Green Tree)....and it was dead compared to the usual weekday crowd. I assumed it was because of the cold, having totally forgot about coronavirus.

it seemed odd, since a great deal of their weekday lunchtime clientele are field guys (utility workers, construction guys, etc.)...and it was sparse there today. I guess because of fears of the corona virus.
