After all, no one wants to live in South Side Flats, right?

I am not sure why anyone would be surprised by noise, yet it happens. You have a lot of people that moved into South Side knowing what it was, yet they still complain.

They complain... and yet they still live there. The pluses outweigh the minuses for most.

As for the North Shore... it should be the site of intense residential development. Having a 5-10 minute walk (or a free subway ride) to your Downtown job across the bridge is a powerful incentive.

Although I am happy with this 8 or 9 story proposal, Continental has already lowered it one floor from earlier talks of a 10 story structure. Yes, 9 stories is only one story shy of 10. Yet, we'll probably get the eight, or maybe only seven. That is how I feel about Continental. Ground was broken sixteen years ago on the stadiums. Yet it will be eighteen years before the first residential tenant moves onto the property. Yes, there is more of a demand now than there was in 1999 in and around the Golden Triangle. Still, since Continental was given an open slate on THEE best property in the city and it took them that long to get residents there is pathetic. There should be three or four residential high rises built on the North Shore in the ten to fifteen floor range by now. The Steelers did not want it, so they had Continental and their hen pecked spokesperson try to justify it by using Yinzers complaining about parking and tailgating at Stiller games as the reason for lack of development. As for noise? Give me a break! The Stillers and Continental would love to use people like you as an example for lack of development so they could keep it parking for as long as possible. This is a city for crying out loud. If you want peace and quiet, move out to the country.

Haha, I cracked up when somebody compared the noise on the Norf Side Shore Side to South Side. I can hear Heinz stadium in Brighton Heights on Steeler Sundays. I'm talking I can hear the announcers commenting during the game, forget the fact I can hear Styx Renegade perfectly. I'm happier with housing over eyesore parking lots.

They should really build a high rise condo there, that is tall enough so that a few of the upper level floors have views into the stadiums. It would be a new/different experience for Pittsburgh and I imagine those condos would bring a nice sales price.

People complained on the south side who bought the new houses at the bottom of S. 18th Street, about the sounds of the trains coming by- people always complain.

Parking for downtown commuters as well as stadium goers is still needed on the north side, it shouldn't be all turned over to residents- at least as long as a lot of people have to work in town. Most downtown workers are middle class and come from the suburbs, they need a place to keep their ride during the day. The LRT cars going under the river make it convenient even for those who work on Grant St.

That's what the W. General Robinson garage is for. It has plenty of capacity and another is garage is in the works by Alco. Surface lots are not what is needed.

Renters don't show up and complain the same way owners do, some thing to keep in mind. Rent when it suits your move when it suits you. All things are tradeoffs but this is on the t, walking distance to over 100k jobs, and on the right side of the tunnels. There are enough young people who like sports and the ability to stop on the way home and buy a cheap ticket that it will be a draw. Soundproofing is possible. I'd think football would be the least annoying soundwise because they're so infrequent. Not like they play at 7 am.

it seems likely that a high proportion of residents will work within walking distance. Still, I think there should be a plan to extend the T beyond its current terminus to create a park n ride further from town. It would double t capacity for events since people could move in both directions
