I never got there, but after hearing the Worm rave about the Pyongyang spicy noodles he had while visiting Kim-Un, I regret missing North Korea month

Anyway, speaking of soft openings, Notion just finished their first week in their new E. Liberty digs and will also continue the soft open Mon-Thurs next week - half the menu will be available, no dining checks, just donations. Wife and I are going Wed nite & looking forward to it.

That was the Waffle Shop, which I had no interest in trying. Conflict Kitchen was run by the same people but was nothing but food (and a highly dressed up and variable storefront).

Thanks. I just wasn't going to go back there ever. Fool me once.

Just curious, how were the actual waffles, assuming they offered you any?

They served you eggos or the quality was so bad that they were similar to eggos? Kind of pathetic in either case, not hard to cook a real waffle.

I don't really know. I was served two rectangles of waffle that looked as if they had been attached at some point. They served them with fake maple syrup and they didn't have any butter. My friend hated the waitress, but she didn't bother me that much.

That's... something. You can get better waffle presentation at IHOP. Definitely were just focused on their pretentious art, I guess.

Went to Notion's soft opening tonight. Was very impressed. Not everything was an absolute winner for both of us (e.g. I didn't care for the chicken, but wife loved it, so I took her beef dish and was delighted with it), but between wife and I we tasted every dish on the limited menu save for a white asparagus soup. Even the amuse bouche, the basil macaron finish and the two wines offered were excellent.

We never got up to the original spot in Oakmont, so we're glad to have experienced it. Will look forward to when he's fully up and running with a full menu.
