Personally I don't count on Yelp for recommendations as reviewers typically label anyplace with food that's a bit challenging as "pretentious", but you can trust them for reviews on red sauce joints. There's only been one decent Tambellini's around here in years - Jos. Tambellini in Highland Park.

from the article it does sound like they no longer had the energy to do it and no one else in the family stepped up. it sounds like maybe they were looking for the right person to lease the place (and perhaps license) to. yelp is definitely not reliable.

The new concept that's going to replace it sounds interesting, though.
The new place does sound interesting to me too. At least something will move in quickly and the building won't just sit empty.

I picked up my Urbanist last week at Bluebird Kitchen. It's a nice product, though primarily limited to some of the coolest neighborhoods in PGH.

New guide Urbanist covers local dining and shopping in Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Quote:
Pittsburgh's version includes 152 mostly independent restaurants, cafes, bakeries, craft beer and pubs, craft cocktails and wine bars, galleries, yoga and beauty salons and stores that sell shoes, vintage apparel, furniture and other items. The businesses are concentrated in the city or suburbs close by, such as in Millvale or Homestead.

"It's focused on Pittsburgh and locally owned businesses that are doing something to commit to the market," said Mr. McAllister, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon and received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and master's from University of Maryland.

Conflict Kitchen is opening in Oakland's Schenley Plaza on April 1, with a soft-open this month, according to their Facebook page.

I guess their efforts to move downtown fell through. This location may work out better for them, I think, because of all the students milling around, plus those round kiosks seem like the perfect size.

I'm still waiting for something to replace this and the Waffle Shop in East Liberty.

Is this that execrable place that used to be in East Liberty that wasn't really a restaurant, but performance art? I am so not a hipster-hater, but that place turned me into one for an hour one Sunday.
