And that is why I love digital over film. I do miss the SLR film cameras though. But it gives me a chance to see what I did wrong and what I did I lose? A few minutes uploading the pics to see that some came out bad.
By the way I have an S3 IS and just got the wide converter and tele converter lenses for it which bring it to just a hair under what the S10 IS can zoom into and almost come close to what its wide angle can view.
After I master this, the next step is an SLR, Canon of course.
About half of the reason I bought the camera was to photo my paintings and drawings. I can never get the colors right. This painting is a copy of another painting I'm working on. It's about half done. The colors are right except for the blue. Not pale enough. If anyone finds out how to get the colors exact, let me know.

HELP!!!! Sx10 What is the icon ( busy ) from what I read it just powers down and everything goes to default setting....
And Duh !! I just figured some thing out the little optical sensor on the upper left corner of the camera, It's their to meter your shot....... so don't do as I do. Put your finger or fingers across this sensor.. could not figure out for the life of me why the image and meter was so wacky.....
Icon? Not sure. Are you talking about when you're taking a photo, and you get a "Busy" message, even though you thought you were done?
Also, everything does not go to default setting when the camera powers down -- only some things. If you use exposure compensation, for example, that remains as you set it until you change it again.
Thanks Tinman...was reading your posts on Wet Canvas. It gets confusing.
It says I can't DM you. Just my joking. I went to the Wet Canvas and scrolled down and saw Tinman posting about the SX10 and I never noticed you there before. Just my stupidness. Pay me no mind.

I was fiddling with it last night... and got a full black screen and at the bottom in the center of the LCD / View finder ( busy ) then 10 seconds went by and the the screen can back up... The only thing I can find is ( busy) camera resets and goes to default setting........

I've gotten some funky icons and other stuff I have no idea what they are! Lights blinking and flashing too! I just turn my camera off then on again and they are gone!
I also went to my Menu and am not sure what half the settings should be set at.
I am S-L-O-W-L-Y learning!
Just ordered that manual you posted!
