Ebay can be unpredictable. I'd been watching an adapter for sony nex... Normally sells for $125 or so. One sold for $110, and one sold just a few minutes prior for $80.
If your listing goes noticed you might end up with $325-350, not bad for a 6 year old lens, especially considering that a completely revised model is now available. OTOH, new Nikon 105mm f/2.8 is $900. You can find used older version for half that.
Ultimately, lenses are not an investment except for those that can attract someone with a serious case of GAS masquerading as a camera collector, a few decades down the road. And it will be a tougher road for any mass produced consumer lens.
The old 105mm f2.8 is nothing like the new vr model. I have the new 105mm vr and i just bought marilyn one last monday to replace the tamron. the auto focus system is far faster and better , nano crystal glass and vr make a nice difference.
They are 900.00 bucks.
i bought all new lenses the last 2 months and 2 new cameras ,the d800 and d7000.
added the nikon 16-35mm , the nikon 24-120mm vr , the nikon 70-200 mm f2.8 vrii and the second nikon 105mm vr we bought monday.
still thinking about the 80-400mm vr for the zoo trips.
also added 2 of the nikon r1c1 macro flash kits as we each needed our own.
also added the epson 3880 printer .
sold the nikon 50mm f1.4 and the nikon 24mm f2.8.
i wish we had adult supervision to tell us to stop buying new stuff but we egg each other on. we funded part of it with the city data money but the rest is all out of pocket.
we are thinking of retiring next year so this is kind of the last chance to just buy whatever we want with no thought about what we are spending.
it has been almost 7 years since we bought new cameras and i guess 5 years since we bought lenses.

One comment I'll add for my 2¢ is that on the monitor differences in camera setups will not always show what that 3880 printer will tell. I have some excellent shots done with Canon's lowly Rebel T2i on my 3880 and know that for still life images I could get great poster size prints on the Epson 7900 I just added. I'm waiting on a Canon announcement to see if I will add a Nikon D7100 or not.

Down to 250.00 on the tamron macro and no takers. At this point we may just keep it to use when we don't want to take our new stuff.
We are planning on photographing harlem in a few weeks so i can take my old d300 ,a 35mm nikon f1.8 and the tamron and get pretty decent coverage.
Ink per sq ft is only $1. $12 for the print. I will find out.
Comparing cost of cameras and lens outfits is just the beginning. Add the 10k in printers, the 32k for the 4x4 pickup to get through the low water crossings and deep ruts to get on location and ya got a good start. Gas in the tanks cost more than the ink IMHO. I will rent the D800 with a landscape lens to try and make the print for the studio.
things always take a twist, thats what keeps us all guessing whats next.
