Everyone wants a nice home to live in - regardless of color. I have lived here in the "square" for almost 4 years, since retiring and needing low rent. At Palomino Point each 4 unit building in owned separately. So the owners have a lot to do with the condition of the rentals. They hired security to be on the property back in 2013 and also have a "NO felonies " policy tat was started, I think everyone is just trying to live and let live.
It is true that helicopters and gun fire can be heard a few times in the month, but police services are on the scene just like they would be anywhere, The only lack I have seen is from the fire and rescue !!! A man come up to me in the parking lot as I was leaving one afternoon, in a panic asking to use my cell phone - his girlfriend was in trouble and could not breath, of course I gave him my phone, but after the call I decided to wait and make sure help arrived ,
well I waited and waited , finally after 10 -12 mins a fire truck pulled in. And when they saw me standing there - shaking my head in discuss they got out of the truck and said "what's your problem? " I told them it was sure a long wait and I better not count on them for help. And why were they wasting more time instead of following up on the person who needed help . (the fire station is right down the street) But like I told them I wont be counting on them for help.

I wasn't raised here and have not lived here that long- (Portland Oregon is my home town) but there are all walks and times in life and I just try to do the best I can and I everyone else is too then it should be all good .

Reminds me of a ghetto island smack-dab in middle-class Suburbia!!!!!!

Bounded by Greenway, Bell, 32nd St., Cave Creek. It seems like it has a high concentration of scruffy-looking people, they might even be associated with gangs. Quite a few junky properties too.

What's the history of this section anyway? How did it allow itself to get so run-down???????
Why is this so shocking to you? Pretty much every larger city has its own version of "the square".

I doubt you will get a response from the poster you quoted, who started this thread in 2008, and the poster hasn't been back to the forum since 2011.

Just seems like a section that progress forgot about.
I lived there in the mid-80's, and went to Greenway middle school, back when it faced Greenway rd
