**UPDATE** - Its official, I accepted the job located downtown Phoenix. Does anyone have any apartment recommendations in Central Phoenix? To make it easier, to narrow down, I'm a budget conscious single 40something that wants to be in a walkable neighborhood, close to a gym, grocery store, etc. Salary is $60,000. Where do I fit in there?

Thanks for the info....if you don't mind me asking about how much is your monthly rent? This area is exactly what I'm looking for.

Congratulations! I know you've been looking forward to relocating here for quite some time.

I can't help with your questions, but I'm sure others will chime in.

Thanks for the love! Yes it has been a minute...but moving without a job lined up was not an option....Too risky.

Congrats! I'm happy to hear that you will finally get to move out here. The weather is wonderful this time of year and the area you are contemplating seems like it will be a good fit. Hope your move goes well.

I think the below suggestions would be a good fit for you:

How about The Met? It's really nice 0.5 miles from work. Look how close it is.

Next would be Camden Copper Square Apartments at 9th St & Van Buren. Pretty nice place and 0.7 miles from work. Look how close it is.

Next would be the Tiki Apartments on 11th St & Washington. Can't personally attest to how nice they are (never been inside), but I'm sure they are even cheaper. Look how close it is. (P.s. This is right on the lightrail line).

Here's some other options with my commentary to the side:
Nice 1 Bedroom, close to Downtown (not a great area)
Downtown PHX condo for rent (Nice Condo rental)
ASU DOWNTOWN /LIGHT RAIL/ARTS DISTRICT/HISTORICAL/1 BED 1 BATH NO CRED (This might work, no photos)

IMO, my first two suggestions are the best. Hope you found some of this helpful.

We are really enjoying the neighborhood and all it has to offer. lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance as well as the light rail. There are some homeless people around but I definitely wouldn't call the area unsafe.

Wow, finally.... Big congrats and welcome to Phoenix. Perseverance pays off. Nice to see that someone is rewarded for doing things the right way. Not to say that many have moved here without a job (me included, 20 years ago) and it worked out. I think WSPHXPELON is on track with suggestions. I'm sure there will be many more.
