Looking for any information regarding the Intel Corporation in Chandler, AZ. Is it difficult to get on within the plant. How is the working environment? Is it one of those places that you have to know someone to get a foot in the door?.

I've been with Intel for 17 years now working primarily in the fab. I personally love it but I can tell you it is not for everyone. I work a compressed schedule which is 12 hour days for 3 days one week and 4 days the next for a total of 84 hours every 2 weeks. The days can get long but the long weekends more than make up for it.

As far as getting on, knowing someone to get them to submit your resume may give you a slight leg up but not much. It all depends on qualifications. As of now there is very little if any hiring going on, you missed the boat by about a year but that could change at any time. The last I knew to get hired directly by Intel you needed some kind of electronics degree for fab equipment work which is the majority of the jobs. An Engineering degree would get the higher level jobs. There are other ways to get in. We have a huge number of contractors working here now as we are almost always removing and adding equipment. They are primarily electricians and pipe fitters and other construction trades. Office work is often filled initially by temp agencies. You contract through them with Intel for up to I believe a year. During that time you could be offered a full time job with Intel or you may just have to try to renew the contract.

You can PM me if you have anything more specific you would like to know.
