Anyone have information on the jobs that Intel will be hiring for in the near future? I have heard they will be hiring a lot of people but have yet to see anything?

I read an article, it said Intel will be hiring the best of the best. A person I work with has her husband working there and of course she said only people with bachelor's degrees will be hired. Is tihs true? How unfair is that?

They will likely hire a lot of IT and CIS professionals as well as those skilled in civil engineering. They hire people from quite a few skill sets. They love recent engineering and CIS grads. I would look on their website and look under human resources to get a feel of the possible positions they offer.

"Unfair?" How is it unfair for an employer to decide the qualifications of the people they hire? Their business, their rules.

An example of Intel's hiring ad (just the qualification part).

========
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate should possess a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree.
...

Preferred Requirements:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
...

========

I would say it is unfair even for people with bachelor's degrees. How dare they prefer people with master's degrees?! :-)

Maybe we should start hiring high school graduates as doctors. That should save the hospitals billions of dollars.

Intel does hire people without college degrees. Many contractors are warehouse employees, maintenance crew, cafeteria crew, administrative assistants, etc. Just search for jobs at Jobs at Intel

If a person cannot do the job they are hiring for without the skills, training, and everything else a specified college degree provides, there's nothing "unfair" about that. As noted above, there are other jobs there without such requirements.

I hear all those new jobs were all ready filled by people already working for Intel. They hire from within first and foremost.
