Can anyone tell me what the traffic is like on the Loop 101 freeway going west in the morning? I'm looking at commuting from the Desert Ridge neighborhood, at the 51 interchange with the Loop 101, to Litchfield Park.

I haven't driven on the 101 during rush hours since early 2005, but I imagine it hasn't changed much.

Going west from Desert ridge to the I-17 interchange - You can run into some slowdowns until you get past I-17.

Continuing west, you'll have a smooth drive all the way to where the 101 turns south, then you'll start experiencing gradual slowdowns as you get closer to the I-10 interchange.

When you go west on I-10 you'll be okay, since you'll be going in the opposite direction of rush hour traffic. Or you can exit the 101 south on McDowell and go west. That of course depends on how far west you have to go.

I agree with Magnum Mike, except that the traffic will get much more heavier once you are going south as that is now going with traffic from the NW like Surprise.
