CheyDee,

I fully understand your civic pride - very similar for you as all the the news reports of the "smuggling corridor" being in Casa Grande are to me. (In reality the danger zone is almost 25 miles west of CG).

But, for purposes of this forum, unfortunately most people are still going to think QC and San Tan Valley are the same thing since for so long STV was called QC on all the realty websites etc..

It will be awhile before STV gets a seperate identity. Just the way it is...

What's funny is some of the areas in the West Valley are way out there too but don't get the reputation of being so like Queen Creek. I mean Surprise and Sun City West are way out there. Certain areas of Goodyear are pretty far too. Sun Lakes is pretty far and southern areas in Ocotillo can be a haul too. Queen Creek is further out but I have a friend who lives there and drives to St. Joes hospital every morning and it takes her 45 minutes to an hour which is not much different than some cities and areas in the West Valley. When I lived in Arrowhead, it would take me 45 minutes to an hour to drive to Banner Desert in Mesa and Good Sam in Phoenix. I don't think Queen Creek is that bad. There are great home deals. Yes, it can be a pain for a daily commute to Phoenix or Scottsdale but the same can be said of so many cities in the Valley.

Or looking at it another way: Buckeye (old town Buckeye south of the freeway not Verrado) is 3 miles closer to downtown than is "downtown" Queen Creek per Mapquest. Nobody is going to say Buckeye is close in - at least for another 20 years. All that matters is how near/far you live to the things you do. If you are a retiree in Surprise or Sun Lakes, who cares how far this or that is? Everything you need is within 10 miles probably. If you work, you can be close to your job in Queen Creek or in Arrowhead depending on where it is you work. I would not want to make the trip from Anthem to Chandler everyday, for example, but Anthem to the employment centers on north I-17 I could live with. Even in the worst cases, very few people have commutes of more than 40 miles one way. Compared to LA, that is nothing.
