Okay, if the Amoroso roll is the key and they sell them in Wawa's and Wawa's now extend all the way to Richmond Virginia does that mean that they can make good-as-Philly-Cheesesteaks in Virginia
There's a guy from Philly who has a place in Corolla NC that makes a good steak. That's about as far south as I have gotten a decent one.

There's a place over in Anchorage which has the nerve to call itself "Straight Out Of Philly".

They serve this gelatinous, gristled mess of roadkill on something that only visually resembles a roll but has the consistency of a dried-out loofah. As for cheese, they served not the usual Provolone, American or "whiz". Oh no, they had to serve the disgusting, "hoity-toity" Euro-trash Swiss cheese which may be okay for a ham & cheese sandwich or baiting a mousetrap but unless you're John Kerrey, why, why in the name of all that is holy would you EVER put this on a Philly cheesesteak????

Not that I'm overly passionate about my cheesesteaks or anything but if you're going to name your business "Straight Out of Philly", you are setting yourself up for failure when a born and bred Philly boy with a PC and a little bit of "attytood" has the misfortune of coming away from your establishment with the taste of death in his mouth left there by your sickening wares.

P.S. - Don't even think of asking for something truly "fancy" on your cheesesteak like (gasp) pepperoni or instead of getting just plain fries or cheese fries, asking for "pizza fries" (oh now I've done it, I think they're calling the cops).

I even like Wawa hoagies, compared to what i can get in CO.
Frank's Pizza in Elkins Park has hands-down the best steaks. Yes. I've had Jim's, Larry's, Geno's/Pats and none can compare to good old Frank's, in the heart of Cheltenham Township.

You can get good cheesesteaks (and by that I DON"T mean Pat's and Geno's, and Tony Luke's ) at all kinds of places throughout the Philly area. Of course, being from South Philly, I'm partial to neighborhood places. And I mean neighborhood places throughout the area. Some great cheesesteak places are in the suburbs, the northeast and south jersey. That's what I LOVE about Phily a good cheesesteak is never more than a couple of blocks away.

However -- once you get past a certain geography (and I don't know what that is) what passes for a cheesesteak goes all wrong.

As was said, if real Philadelphians are running the place you should get the real deal. Because I must say, I don't think a real Philadelphian would ever pass off crap for a true cheesesteak -- too much pride. Just wouldn't be done.

And PLEEEEZE dont' call it a 'steak and cheese' UGH.
