Now they just need to tell them to get their heads out from their phones while they're out and about so they can actually pay attention. The bike cops in Center City and SEPTA cops are the absolute worst when it comes to this.

None of you tough-sounding youngsters posting are going to apply for a cop job. But, yes, I do agree that the cops we do have should do their jobs.

Another round of buyouts/layoffs was announced on 5/23 for the Inquirer which has had a death rattle for a while. It may actually die this time.

I don't try to sound tough. I've had too comfortable of a life to really ever be "tough". And why the hell would I want to be a cop as a gay, liberal, city-loving twenty-something? The type of people who are attracted to policing are generally not the kind of people I want to be around in the first place.

What?

Also, yeah, as MB1562 said, the job of police officer entices those with a proclivity to want to engage in violence and to exert power over others. It's part of the job. So it shouldn't be unexpected when it attracts the worst people in society.

If you don't believe me, perhaps the FBI Counterterrorism Division could convince you.

Getting them out to Market East and surrounding areas on bike and foot patrol would help.....a lot.
