But when there's hands in everyone's pockets, suddenly a simple bill like this lacks motivation.
There is some hope that Parkway is changing their minds: the lot they acquired at the nw corner of Broad and Spring Garden is earmarked for a pretty great development project. Hope it actually happens.

If it weren't for people getting paid off, the city would then realize that it's been leaving a ton of money on the table for an entire generation.

Maybe keeping 8th and Market a parking lot is not a bad thing. There's a ton of construction underway right now. I'd like to be assured there's sufficient market to absorb the construction coming to completion first. That lot is huge and strategically located. Whatever goes in there needs to be successful.

Remember, I lived in Houston in the 1980s when "see-through buildings" were a thing: 'See-Through' Interiors : Office Glut: It Sweeps the Country - latimes.

As large and sad to look as it is, I would rather wait for an A+ project to come along rather then settel for some crappy replacement.

I would rather see the lots on Western Market fill in first. They need to go.

Newish residents missed the Sam Rappaport/slum landlord era. I can hardly imagine the graft and corruption going on wrt that guy.

That spot was one location for the second city casino license when the Foxwood deal fell through. There have been a few ideas about how to develop it and they fail every time.

Tenants are huge. If they can attract a major one, opportunities exponentially increase.
