When I did a brief consult with Comcast, the rumor was that the company wanted to build short-term apartments or something of the sort for their own employees/executives. If this is true, I wouldn't expect a skyscraper, but something more modest.

Glad the city has its priorities in order, Clarke recommending more parking for denser developments...seems like Philadelphia should follow the leads of King of Prussia and West Chester on urban development, how sad. If only Clarke was as interested in making Philadelphia a world class city instead as he is his own bottom line. The city will never reach its full potential as long as he is in council.

"Residents of the neighboring Yorktown community see the first View complex, just to the north, as an eyesore."

The surrounding neighborhood isn't what I would call visually appealing....

Yup, exactly.

All roads lead to the same destination. In order for Philadelphia to really move forward, it needs new leadership all around. With Nutter, it felt like we were headed in the right direction. But with Kenney in office, and the same crooks like Clarke still up to the same old BS, it's not promising. That's not to say Philadelphia won't continue to improve, but more that it will be constrained in doing so.

Design is pretty weak IMO.

Regardless, if development is going to continue along the piers, it would be great to put some BRT or LRT down Delaware Ave. When you get this far from the MFL, transit becomes a bigger problem (at least for those like me who are car-free).

He doesn't know what "world class" means. He's a Street protege so why would you expect him to? Nutter understood it perfectly. Sigh.

Well, hell, I live in his district and I can not remember anyone opposing him in a primary. But, once again since millennials would rather snapchat or other nonsensical things on their phones, they're not working at dislodging Boomer dinosaurs like Clarke.

Yorktown is NOT what is was so what are they even talking about?

Yorktown's a black middle class enclave, a little chunk of the Far Northeast plopped down in North Central Philly, last I looked.

It may not be all that attractive, but it looks no worse than, say, Morrell Park or Cedarbrook.

Do Temple students really all bring cars to campus with them? It seems to me that most residential colleges discourage the practice.

And by "Yorktown is not what it was" you mean...? Doesn't look to me like it's gone downhill or anything.

I find it hard to believe that there are parking problems in the area. I went to Drexel, and between Drexel and Penn you have more students with more money and more cars, and I hardly ever had trouble getting a spot except during peak class hours.

I think the surrounding residents are coming up with any excuse they can because they don't like Temple, they don't like "gentrification" and many of them to be frank don't like white people moving closer and closer.
