I like all the green.

I love it. I love that they're keeping the "saucer" building and fountain. And it looks like they are keeping the LOVE sculpture where it is and on the same pedestal. Also it looks like they are adding an elevator on the 15th St. side. I can't wait for this redo. It will get close to finishing spaces that augment City Hall. Can we hope for a redo of the dead space next to the Municipal Services Bldg?

Yep, and the green spaces will be great.

PlanPhilly | 550 apartments, acres of public space planned for Festival Pier site

in many this could be significant as trhe forst true development in the new waterfront development plan and looks to bring the river and development to street and water front

I think the scale 4 story apartments eith retail and Blvd to the rviver (extended SG street) will be great for the area

Default Action on the Delaware?

Developers named for Festival Pier on the Delaware

Guess we'll need to see if this comes to fruition.

It would be sad (at last IMO) if the city lost the voice of the Inquirer: Philadelphia Media Network announces newsroom merger, layoffs

This concern is not limited to Philly. As a boomer, newspapers were an important part of our lives, and in many instances remain so. Media sources such as the HuffPo offer more timely responses to newsworthy events, but tend to do so in an opinionated and often snarky manner. I think it's great we have these media sources. I'd just like to see them offered in addition to newspapers rather than in place of them.

This is awesome! This will really be a great boost for the city. Just more greatness to add to Philadelphia's resurgence.

It's very sad indeed. Being a Boomer, I, too, have similar feelings about the demise of newspapers.

Lenfest went to court to fight for control of PMN but I tend to believe that when he dies there will be no one else who wants anything to do with it. And that will truly be the end of all print editions.

The City Paper died not long ago. Again only local Boomers cared about that most likely.

I loved the City Paper - it was the one of the few things that regularly convinced me I wasn't insane, uncovering big stories on a regularly basis, with the simple philosophy of holding those in power accountable. It was a huge loss, it's hard to imagine a city the size of Philadelphia without a true alternative weekly, the Philly Weekly's foremost concern being how to seem hip this week. The Metro buying it last year was clearly a bad sign - but I didn't expect it to go away so soon. And how the Philly Weekly outlasted it I don't understand.

The City Paper was always like that. I miss it.

The Phila. Weekly used to be called the Welcomat. It had a similar vibe as CP and was another alternative voice around here 25 or so years ago.
