I've been offered a job in downtown Philadelphia, and I've decided to accept it

Company will not pay or arrange short term housing and I'll need to find a place by myself until my house sells in TX. My job is located right next to Suburban metro station.

Any ideas for temporary housing in downtown? I have some sort of budget; I do not want to pay hotel prices (in case the house here does not sell and I will have to stay longer in this temp housing), but I do not want to stay in motels either.

Ideally, I would like to walk to the office and utilize my temporary housing's parking. Another question is related to parking in downtown. Company does not subsidize parking, so how much should I estimate spending on parking on daily basis?

Apartment:

philadelphia sublets & temporary classifieds - craigslist

put in center city, and the amount you want to pay for rent.

Parking:

Philadelphia Parking Authority - Parking Locator (http://www.philapark.org/parkinglocator/parking_locator.aspx?searchAddress=2030+Sansom+Str eet - broken link)

(Center City is very walkable with good public transportation). If you are not going to be using your car on a daily basis, I suggest you look into phillycarshares.com

Good luck. This is a great city!

Besides newmarlig's great suggestions, I specifically recall the Oakwood at 16th and Sansom and the Windsor at 17th and the Parkway being two properties that go after short-term renters with corporate expense budgets.
Also to echo the previous post, you won't need your car to get around Center City. Use the suggested locator link above to find a relatively inexpensive parking lot on the fringes of downtown to defray your parking costs. Otherwise you might pay as much as $20 a day for a close-in parking garage.

Rates at the Windsor for a studio go from $179 (corporate rate) to $219 per night. That may be a bit steep.

There are several Oakwood properties in center city. You have to call them for rates, but I imagine they are in the same range:

Temporary Furnished Apartments, Corporate Apartments and Extended Stay Housing

Also try:

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Corporate Housing and Short Term Furnished Apartments

$219? Ouch! Thanks for the clarification, newmarlig.

Then again, if it's on the company dime, what the heck!

Tone - the OP is on some sort of budget. I don't know if it will cover $219 a night.
