Someone told me about this place. It's fenced off with razor wire and they saw video cameras. Its on route 287, north of Williamsport.

Off to the right of the marker you can see fence lines in the trees and make out some roads.

Any locals have any info on this mysterious off limits place?

Most likely it is private property and none of your business.

Yeah, cause most people with private property install chain-link fences with razor wire and video cameras, on land that that appears to be mostly trees and a few dirt roads.

...A lot of trees, a stream, a clear area and a small building which might be a storage shed used by, perhaps, the forest service or similar, maybe a hunting club. There's another one in the area - building in a clearing in the woods.

I asked someone "in the know" who said there's a new animal preserve up Route 287. Maybe that's it. Not sure if it's for looking or hunting, though.

There are a number of private hunting reserves with high fences around here.

Well it's really none of your business what they do and I don't understand why you have such a high level of concern about it.

For one thing you have not verified the "razor wire" and "cameras" as fact.

If it does bother you, you may walk up to the property and ask them directly.

I don't think the OP meant any harm by asking, I'd be intriuged too.

We often take Route 287 from Route 220 to get to Wellsboro and we must miss where you are talking about. We always remark when travelling that route how one minute you see some run down trailer and the next it's a million dollar farm.

Depending on how close it is to Williamsport, isn't there a prison in that area?

Also, there is a guy by the name of Donnie Beaver who is a controversial figure who has bought up large amounts of land and closed it off for private hunting and fishing.

I understand the hunting preserve idea, but whats the fence for?

I might just do that, If you never hear from me again then you'll know something is up with this place...

I guess it's there for a reason, but in the USA I think we are entitled to some personal privacy so if it their land, so I wouldn't worry about it.
