There's a whole lot of hullabaloo about this story here. Maybe because I am not a parent I side with the usher in theory (not execution...he seems pretty crazy about the communicable diseases part)
I'm a parent and I don't think infants belong in a theater. Get a sitter or stay home until they're old enough to behave. This shouldn't even be a breastfeeding issue.

I agree with you.
I still nurse my 1 year old pretty much everywhere, but I do not think it is acceptable to bring an infant to something like a theatre. Theatre, 'adult'/high end restaurants, those are places I love to go when I have a sitter
One of the main reasons I haven't been to the movies in years is because no matter what time of day or what type of movie you go see you will eventually end up in a theater with infants/babies/toddlers that have no business in a movie theater. I could understand it if it was a Disney movie where you expect kids to be but not in a rated R movie that is not intended or suitable for young children.
It was not a movie. It was a family play. And people with kids and babies have other kids and babies and other things to do in life besides sit home and nurse all day. If it were up to some people women with small children would literally never be able to leave their homes. I'm so sick of feeling like I'm imposing on the world because I need to run an errand, go to the doctor, go grocery shopping, do something for another family member, or leave my home with my child for any reason at all. At this point, I'm so fed up with society's attitude that you can all just stuff it - I am no longer going to try to be super considerate and keep my child from inconveniencing or slightly annoying anyone due to his very existence, because it's just plain stupid. People need to get over it. Children exist and have a right to be most places, just like anyone else.

Im pretty sure THIS is the reaction the OP was hoping for. ^^
I nursed twins for 8 months. I know all about being stuck at home.
Of course the usher was wrong.
But unless one of your kids was IN the play or the show was (God forbid) 3 hours long, there are ways around having to nurse in a theater.
