Yes they play board games still, when the electronics run out of batteries or the power is out. j/k Yes kids play these. I do think its cool they have board games on the "DS" And "Wii".
My kids (7, 9, 14) also love Apples to Apples--we have the Jr and original versions so all ages can play. They also like chess, Jenga, The Dinosaur Game, Scrabble, Uno, Connect 4, Indiana Jones Life, Simpsons Sorry, backgammon, Clue, Risk, Cranium (regular, Cadoo, Hullabaloo), Risk, and Mancala (we got a cool 4 player set).
They like mousetrap, but only to put the set together and make it work repeatedly--they don't play the game as intended at all!
You know the games where it takes you at least an hour and a half just to set up before you actually start playing? I think Monopoly taught me to budget. And Mouse Trap led me to my IT career (putting things together)...ok, I'm being silly but, do any kids play these games nowadays? I wish I had taken better care of them. I could probably sell them on Ebay now for a grip.
board games are fun
and it makes a great family nite..
maybe you know a family in need with kids...they might appreciate the games..just an idea
I almost hate to admit it... we play many family board games - on our Xbox 360 . Almost every traditional board game is available for the video game console...lol. And there's no small parts to lose
Sure!
We play; Candyland, Shoots & Ladders, The Ladybug game (my daughter's LOVE this game!), Jr.Scrabble, Hungry,Hungry Hippos, Hullabaloo (we have the DVD edition and the regular one)...
Our children also love to play Uno , Go Fish & War! .....
We play Monopoly, Heroscape, Pirates, Chess, Checkers, Sorry, Uno, Go Fish. The older one (7) is near ready for some role-playing games, so I figure I'll just go with good old 2nd Edition D&D this summer and some introductory pen-and-paper dungeon crawls.
We love dice in this house, and even the four-year-old can read a pair of six-siders. They're going to freak when I break out the four, eight, ten, and twenties, and let them buy their own sets.

My kids are older so they don't play Candyland or Mousetrap any more but they love:
Scrabble
Boggle
Risk
Stratego
Monopoly
Battleship
They also like video games and they like to play poker.
