For way too long Dads have been depicted on TV as bumbling idiots and as irresponsible parents. Glad this Huggies ad has sparked some protests and is no longer in circulation.

Huggies Pulls Ads After Dads Insulted - ABC News
As a father who considers himself every bit as competent in the realm of parenting as any woman out there, I must say I am offended...

...at the fact that other dads were offended by this.

Dad's best feature is his sense of humor. All the dads who got angry about this are BAD FATHERS

Thanks for this comment Vic. My husband said the same thing! Okay....well, he didn't say the exact same thing. He actually said, "Whaaaat!? Oh my gawd! It was meant to be FUNNY! Apparently, some guys don't have a sense of humor. Oh my gawd!"

And of course this was followed by a belch, and a "honey get me a beer will ya?"

amirite????

<---that's a smiley face to indicate I am smiling when I say that, cause it's humorous, and not serious.

LOL....nah, no belch, not this time. There was a pretty hearty though.I'm not gonna lie though, there were a few times that I came home, when I had kids in diapers, and those diapers HAD reach their limits. Um honey, did you not notice that the crotch of the diaper is down around their knees? Yeah? Oh, just wondering... Ummm that's one of the reasons he finds it funny...he's been there!!

Having a son ~ I'm noticing that men are portrayed a LOT on TV like 'the bumbling Dad' or 'the bumbling husband".

When he was young, I would always try to find movies with strong male characters.

I'm glad they took that commercial off!

I've always hated the bumbling husband/dad thing. I always felt like it excused bad behavior. I didn't look at the ad but I don't think I'd go so far as being offended. Now that I have a husband who isn't a bumbling idiot it doesn't bother me as much. LOL

It's a popular stereotype for sure, but nothing to get worked up over. I saw the ad, I thought it was funny. There have definitely been moments where I've been watching the last few minutes of a period in a hockey game and smelled "the smell"...and proceded to try and ignore it for a couple minutes so as not to miss the game. Does that make me a bad dad or parent, no, it makes me human. What's next, we're going to write letters and protest Fox over Homer Simpson?
