I suppose that depends on the state law and the employer. My employer was local government, and they were willing to hold your position for a year. I don't know if that was at the discretion of the department or if it was an official county policy. It probably made more sense to keep an employee than hire and train a brand new one.

ETA - I'm trying to remember (it has been 6 years), but I think the FMLA law is that your employer has to hold your position for 12 weeks. which is concurrent with the 6 (or 8) weeks of disability. So that's 3 months.

I just looked up Ohio pregnancy law and your right they have to hold the postion for 12 weeks. Wish I would have know that 5 months ago. I would have loved the extra time with DD.
