It's been a nice early start here and thank goodness the winds have subsided.
Unwittingly as a result of yesterday's thread where I asked you for your peeves of the weekend sirron gave me the idea for today's peeve.
She was accused of not having put the car keys back where they belonged. Her husband was left with a red face when he found them where he had put them.
So the peeve centres around being accused of something that you did not do.
Does that ring a bell with any of you? Maybe you've been guilty of it? I'm sure I haven't.
My husband does the same thing as sirron's. When something is out of order or misplaced, he has a tendency to automatically assume it must be because of something I did. I'll admit to being klutzy and losing things sometimes, but come on -- not all the time. It's immensely gratifying on those occasions when I can prove my innocence to him (or better yet, show him that he's the culprit) but in the interest of marital harmony, I always resist the impulse to say "I told you so."
Many times I've accused my wife of doing things like "putting the keys in the wrong place." I have to say it was most-often a mistake on my part. I'm so thankful my wife can put-up with me and my faults.
I'm a better person because of my wife and child - and I often tell them so.
Good morning to you! Love those pics today. I usually get my best shots through the kitchen window.
I've another one that relates to this subject. Actually, there are dozens, but this one sticks out in my memory:
One day the power went out inexplicably, and of course, it was my fault -- "Did you pay the electric bill?"
I should've told him No. But those were the days when I still tried to explain everything. Those days are gone. Now, I just let him ramble and rant until he figures it out.
Not that I'm always right, mind you. But doggone it, most of the time, I think I am!
Good to know that I'm not alone on this one. Cheers, all.
