Haven't done so now. I'm 27. Work full time. But I still post on a lot of different forums, mostly car related. I don't know, I guess it's just a different form of socializing. And I get to talk about topics I wouldn't normally talk about with my girlfriend, family, and friends.
This is interesting, I think as a culture we are seeing some shift in our socialization.
I drove by a school the other day and saw a group of about 10 kids sitting around in a circle on the grass and they were all texting.
None of them were talking to each other or personally interacting, just communicating by devices.
I remember thinking how strange that was.

and this.

I have driven down the road with two teenagers. They were sitting in the backseat, texting other friends.....really strange.

As to post count, it is just curiosity for me as to how it gets so high. Otherwise, don't much care.

I work from home, so am on the computer a lot during the day. I tend to drift toward CD every so often throughout the day to see if there is anything of interest. Although I like hearing other people's viewpoints and follow threads that interest me, I put my two cents in only some of the time. Mod cut: Do not discuss moderation action in the open forum.

I think sometimes boredom and illness brings some here and when you find a good group (not the haters) you stay...I mostly am in Community Chat BUT a lot of us have already met each other in person and they are great people to be around. Every now and then some jerk tries to upset the group but usually if we don't feed the troll they go away.

I think the relationship threads are scary and the things people actually post make me cringe but the P&OC are just filled with hate.

Everybody has their reasons for coming to CD and I guess that's what makes the world go round.

I work in an office from 8-4 M-F, so I have all day to post on here, and I do.

I think I've gone weeks without posting. Other times, I just can't shut up.

I'd like to think that what is said on the City-Data Forum means something. I have learned from my participation. Of course I won't pretend I read the rants.

seriously, if you spent 30 minutes on the game forum. you could do 25-30 posts

That's far from compulsive, or an all-day thing. You can fire off a few short retorts in just one minute. This assumes you have good typing skills, and aren't hunting-and-pecking.

I was at 3-4 posts per day until I recently found the Games forum.
Now my ppd is up to 11-12, just from typing single-word posts in word games.

hmm lol yeah I hate that. And by saying it was a different means of socializing, I didn't by any means meant that I prefer online/texting as a form of my only socializing. It's more of just another venue or forum.

I do half of my posting at work too.

I am not knocking just trying to understand? Some names I see on every thread. I actually wonder if several are posting under 1 screen name?

Me I am unemployed that's my story. I came back to CD after a 4 year? break when I lost my job.
Some posts will migrate into conversation at which point post count can easily rack up.
