It's looking to rain again today, but it was a lovely weekend where we got a few things sorted outside.
I am so grateful to AksarbeN for a message he sent me, because I was feeling pretty peeveless!
His suggestion, which I have copied below, is one I can truly identify with, having had this house extended over the years.
Once again thanks AksarbeN, and here is his POTD;
Lack of storage space. No matter how hard you try cleaning up and tossing out things to clear out the house, within weeks all the emptied areas are full again with new stuff. You can build another closet, add more shelves, convert part of the garage to storage, build a storage unit in the backyard,,,,,,,, but everything you do simply is gone within months and is filled again. Simply a lack of storage space in most homes.
I have a terrible time with this since I moved in to my new place a year and a half ago. All 3 closets are filled to the max and I have very little cabinet space so a lot of my things are in storage at my Mother's house in her storage building. When I was married I used to have a pretty big house so a lot of it came from there, then a few years ago I had a retail business and when I closed up shop I was left with TONS of inventory. I had an auction but I couldn't let go of some things and I wish I had now. I did sell some things on E-bay but it was a huge hassle and yard sales and the flea market haven't panned out so I'm thinking of going the auction route again. Even if I only made $200 it would be worth it to get rid of this headache. I'm now ready to let go and be shed of all this "stuff" and I ain't buying anything else!!!
You can never have enough storage. I am amazed that my hubby and I downsized so much and lived and traveled in a motor home for 3 1/2 years and we had no storage problems. Now that we have a home....holy cow. Every nook and cranny seems to be full....well except for the new storage building we just built Yay finally some shelves that are not full....well not yet anyway

This is my #1 pet peeve at home.
We'd have plenty of space if spouse would just throw things away. Every inch of the garage, floor to ceiling is cabinets, also have a 10 x 6 ft overhead storage rack. Every closet is full of 'stuff', most which is useless. Under the beds, and in the closets are 'stuff'. Every few months I take 'stuff' to charities yet she finds more 'stuff' to bring home. Over 50% of stuff is from Michaels. And I would say a good portion of the 'stuff is way over 20 years old...
Must say a good thing about several moves over the past year or so is that I got rid of a ton of stuff. It's a nice change not needing an extra bedroom just to store clothes and other stuff I hardly ever used.
I think we can all agree with this one, Jezer and Aks.
Murphy's Law #44: No matter how much storage space you have, within 3 months you will run out and need more.
When I moved 18 months ago, it was into a smaller house with much less storage space. I took box after box to the local thrift stores in my efforts to downsize. Guess what. I STILL have boxes sitting around that I cannot find storage space for.
My way of dealing with a lack of storage is simply to get rid of stuff.
Example: I have a hanging shoe rack which holds X pairs of shoes. When I buy another pair, I have to get rid of one of the pairs I already have or they won't fit properly.
Not only does the closet stay tidy, but I don't end up buying more pairs of shoes than I need.
