Good morning peevers.

Regarding the ongoing saga of plumbing incompetence, we have dismiised the 'emergency' service, that we pay for through insurance, and brought in our own excellent plumber who is now doing the work that should have been done on Friday.

One incident in a long traversty of errors was one so called plumber saying that it was okay to turn the water back on. I don't need to tell you what happened next.

That brings me to today's peeve;

'Expert' advice vs common sense.

Truthfully, this is the very reason our world is in the mess it is in today.

'Expert' advice vs common sense.

Good morning Jeezer. There seems to be very little common sense around these days. Sometimes you have to look very hard to find it. I hope you get your plumbing problems straightened out soon.

Oh Jezer, I can certainly empathize with you. We just had some work done here at our house that involved a plumber, then a service technician from the natural gas company, THEN two more plumbers, THEN a master plumber, THEN the problem was finally fixed! Unfortunately, common sense did not make an appearance throughout the entire episode.

Very good peeve.

'Expert' advice vs common sense.

So true, so true, so true. In one of our houses we had a window replaced, casing and all, that was rotted out. The first guy, who was reccomended installed it crooked, left holes in the wall next to the window plus some other issues. I mentioned that to him and he had a hissy fit and said the job was done to industry standards and that he was satisfied. Well I refused to pay hime and had to throw him out of the house. The next fellow who came to re-do the job threw up his hands when he saw the mess then proceeded to start from scratch and do it all over again. His job was perfect and looked great.

There seems to be so many experts today in every field and walk of life, even on CD, who not know of what they talk about yet think they are so smart. Good peeve Jeeve.

You got that right, Glory. Pretty sad state of affairs.

Some excellent comments as usual.

Plumbing pretty much sorted out but we need to replace the kitchen, need a new floor in part of upstairs, but it's all do-able.

Mrs J is planning the new kitchen as we speak!
