Good morning peevers.

The rain has definitely returned and we're in the middle of a week of downpours.

I just got my coffee and had to open a new carton of milk. It opened fairly easily, but that is not always the case with various containers.

Some of the early versions were real pigs to open and there's a classic TV clip of a company boss using scissors and pouring liquid all over himself whilst demonstrating the ease of use of his carton on live TV.

Let us know your experiences, because the POTD is;

Cartons/packets etc that are difficult to open.

I just made a Pillsbury Cake tonite. That package! Caught myself just in time with fit of anger! Got a sharp knife out and slit the top of it!

But many times I think muscle strength will do it! And yup, many times it does! And then you get cake mix or potato chips all over the counter!

Manufacturers need to include the special tools needed to open their products. I've wondered the last few years how in hell poor elderly women in particular can open today's packaging. It's getting to where you need a knife , pliers and/or ripsaw to open these Kevlar packages.

Funny video, Jezer. Long ago I stopped trying to pull open any sort of bagged item. Since I'll be folding the top and clipping to close anyway I just cut the top off to open. I use rice, soy or almond in the cartons with a flip-up tab and the sealed part underneath is 50/50 whether it pulls out or needs extra help to get it free. For me easy open is not an issue when it comes to food and drink. I'd rather have it salmonella-safe!

Non-food things are really tough to get into and that's where the big scissors come in handy.

Even some of these newer zip-loc bags. Tug-Pull-Tug-Pull and with a lot of profanities, eventually you'll get them to open!

Sometimes you have to wonder if the packaging should be more honest.

"New Deterrent! Comes in 3 layers of plastic and vacuum sealed for extra difficulty... Free axe and fingertips (yours)!"
