When was the last time you took a vacation? I'm going later this morning for a week at a small lake. I'll be spending time with my extended family & hopefully getting in a lot of kayaking.

Don't fly anymore since I retired so questions are answered from when I used to fly a lot for work.
Preferred aisle seat, preferred middle or front of plane (to get off of it faster), didn't mind emergency seat.
Have you ever been scared or afraid during a flight?
Yes. Pilot told us there was a problem with the plane after we got part way down the runway and they had to get rid of some fuel before we took off (long delay) so then every little noise, every little bump in the air after we eventually took off made us think this was curtains. But here's the kicker (I kid you not) they handed out surveys and bubble answer sheets with pencils on the plane for us to rate the airline. I wrote across mine YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Only time I ever got a survey on an airplane.
Also, had a time where we had to make an emergency stop before going on to Houston from Kansas City. They said it was because of the weather but after we eventually got to Houston (I had to change planes there) the stupid airline people made an announcement on the loudspeaker in the airport that there was something wrong with the engine on Flight XXX (the plane I just got off of) and they were taking the plane out of service. Did they REALLY have to make that announcement? Couldn't they just take care of it/take it out of service seeing as how the plane was on the ground without an announcement in the airport? Or, couldn't they have taken it out of service without saying why they were doing it? Didn't give me a lot of confidence when I got on the next flight.

We toured France for two and a half weeks in the late 90s. I wanted to move there after we returned, but life didn't take that path.

Probably our best times have been the assortment of long weekends we've taken in our former truck camper out into the wilderness. On one trip, we woke to see we were surrounded by a herd of sleeping elk. I think it was also that trip that we came upon a grizzly stalking an elk herd in the next pasture.
I love seeing wildlife in their world, and those are the times I treasure.

Car, so I can stop when and where I want, and travel the back roads. Nothing surpasses my memories of driving the dirt roads of Michigan with Grampa in his old International Jeep.
Bonus Question: On an Airplane do you prefer... safe landings. Have you ever been scared or afraid during a flight? I was 20 in '76, and flying from Detroit to Ft. Jackson, SC for my induction into the Army. There was a storm with lots of winds and lightening. We tossed and dropped altitude so abruptly, it felt like we were in a small sailboat on the high seas. Across the aisle from me was a Vietnamese woman with her infant. At one tussle we were tipped and dropped so violently that the child flew out of her arms and it was a miracle that she was able to catch it before it bounced from somewhere! At another, a crack of lightening knocked out our lights -- thankfully they came back on immediately after, but I was terrified.
