I drive a used car that I spent thousands on fixing this year because it is still cheaper than a new car...and someone rear-ended me! Now it is possible his insurance company will try to total it. That means they'll pay me the market value, which is not enough for a new car and only reimburse like 10% for the money I spent on new tires etc...
