The best part of the military operation, which is certainly the greatest news for all of us, and the families of those who conducted the military operation, there were No Casualties on our side. The only casualties were Bin Laden, and a couple of others who were with him. That was a very dangerous operation, in a very dangerous area, but it was conducted very successfully, and with a perfect outcome.
I totally agree Mike! It sounds like the operation was indeed very successful and I'm certainly glad that we had no casualties on our side. I'm also thrilled that Bin Laden is dead! I figured he would just die in a cave somewhere never to be found so I'm glad he had to face justice.

Well of course I would, it's the truth. He had to be taken out... it was a main objective. It follows we must deal with the aftermath. I fear for the life of all our service men and women. Look at all the young soldiers returning from this mess. Having one of my children in harms way would have made no difference.

Dave, we are very lucky that no casualties were inflicted on our side, considering the fact that one of the MH-60 helicopters that was used in the operation experienced mechanical problems, and had to be crash-landed near the compound where Bin Laden was staying. Nobody is sure about what caused the mechnical problems, but reports say that the rotor wash at low altutude kicked up a lot of dust, which blinded the pilots and they could have flown it into some power lines, and the pilots did a "hard-landing", but thank God everyone got out alive.
I have very mixed feelings about this. Of course it gives some closure, but the victory is shallow. Bin Laden was in renal failure for years. A dying man with a cause is more powerful after death than before. He likely anticipated his own demise, did on his on terms knowing it is better for him to die the glorious death of a martyr and fuel the holy war than to die of natural causes as a feeble sick old man. I guess my concern is that this may escalate terrorism. One thing history has taught us is a fool with a cause is dangerous. I mean Bush had an ax to grind... and American blood is still being spilled till today. Well these middle east extremist yet have an ax to grind too. And Americans would do well to remember this while dancing the victory dance and patting each other on the back God Bless America and our troops!
The renal failure not sure of. The fact Bin laden was living in an apparently special built compound and surrounded by couriers....you can be sure he was up to continuing his evil deeds! His oldest son died with him. If you have a mass murderer waiting to take another mass murderers place doesn't mean you let the first live! One down ...however many to go!
Bin Laden had to be taken out, if for no other reason than it would be a moral victory, if not a strategic one. He was a figurehead for the entire war against Islamic terrorism.
I, too, express my gratitude that none of our forces were injured. The Navy Seals are some of the best strategic warriors ever. Remember how precise their rescue operations of Captain Phillips was with the Somali pirates.

Oh I am not minimizing the significants of what happened or taking any credit away from our warriors or our country. We waited along time. I am proud... I am American and a hard core patriot. I enjoy Uncle Sam putting a boot in the arse of terrorist. I am simply pointing out holy war does not begin or stop with one man, so the US should be vigilant and balance the victory with extreme caution.
Ok, I don't wanna be the party pooper here, but that guy was a retiree who retired long ago. He didn't have much to say anymore. Nothing changed. Still the same - with or without him.
I came to this forum to take a break from all the political crap in the other forums - now this.
