Good morning posters, and yes, it's still dry and warm here!
Looking through one or two threads about old TV series got me thinking about how they often seem to do remakes of old and beloved movies and TV series.
Personally it annoys me and I generally wish they would leave them alone. Is there a remake better than the original?
You can make your views known here because today's peeve is
"The Parent Trap" has been a favorite of mine since I saw the original with Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith and Haley Mills in 1961. I liked the mid-1990's remake with Lindsey Lohan, Natasha Richardson and Dennis Quaid better than I did the original. However, I thought Dennis Quaid was miscast--Brian Keith was better.
There have been very few remakes that are as good as the original. Just think how irrelevant some of it would be today. I mean can you just imagine a new millenium version of "Leave It To Beaver?"...Better just to leave it alone.

Yeah....it just wouldn't be the same if Beaver hollered "Yo', bro!" to Wally....
The only remake that I can think of that, IMO, was better than the original is "The Long Hot Summer." I love the original but was blown away by the remake with Don Johnson (what a surprise performance) and the always exceptional Judith Ivey.
Some things are better left alone since remakes require updates and as some posters pointed out.....it just changes the whole feel of the show or movie.
