Hi, my name is Chatteress and I'm a procrastinator ...

Seriously, I struggle with procrastination especially when it involves a task that I dread. Often times, I put the task off til the last moment which I know isn't healthy stress-wise and my best foot isn't put forward in completing tasks. Tomorrow night, I have a presentation and I'm STILL struggling to put the outline together. I honestly wish that I wasn't such a procrastinator and had this thing put together weeks ago!

Any tips, strategies or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for allowing me to vent!

I do the same thing. What I have I call "creative avoidance".

As far any tips, strategies or suggestions, I tell you tomorrow.

Why put off until tomorrow what you can put off forever?

Suggestion: be like Nike, 'just do it'.

Me too. Reward yourself with two or three good things after you've completed a dreaded task, be it chocolate, a good book, mini shopping spree, whatever works.

I have found that the longer I put off a task the bigger that task seems to get in my mind. When I finally have no choice but to get it done I am usually surprised at just how easy it was to do it.

Right now I am putting off getting my car inspected. Why? This is an easy task that I have to do every year. I live 5 minutes from the inspection station, I never have to wait in line. It takes, at most, 20 minutes to get it done. So, why am I putting it off?

Simple, I'm lazy.

I've gotten even worse at it since retirement.

I keep my procrastination skills finely honed, figuring that by doing so I can put off dying for a few more years, too.

Oh. I thought YOU were going to tell ME the cure. I came to glean advice, not to offer it.
