Travel is a sacred subject to me; you say over and over you're planning to go somewhere, and you don't, I'll be hot on your trail!
It's now been 30+ years, over and over: "We're going to England one of these days!"
My sister and brother-in-law are well into their retirement years, and every year another excuse. And they can well-afford it!
A co-worker is forever announcing she's going to travel somewhere, gets everybody excited, then every plan gets canceled.
Myself, I'm the opposite, as I'm superstitious about telling people I'm traveling somewhere. I fear that if I tell everybody I'm going somewhere, the trip will get canceled. So, I go, and surprise everybody later with a postcard!
Most of the time it doesn't bother me if folks don't follow through. But when it is a big deal to me, and they know it, yet they still don't do what they say they are going to do then I pretty much write them off as not being reliable and I don't trust them any longer. I hate it when that happens.
There are 3 things I won't tolerate in people and a quick way to get on my list: Not doing what they say/promise they'll do, lying and being hurtful to either me or someone else. I've learned to be way more selective about who I allow in my life and who I tell to take a hike. Life's too darn short.
"lying" deception- now that is a peeve I can get with u on... I know no one should lie, but a lying guy takes me to places I don't want to visit. I have O tolerance! A man aint much of a man if he aint a man of his word and that goes for the gals too.
I'm probably hard nosed about it but to me, "my word is my bond" and for people who won't do what they say, their "word" is meaningless. I have people like this in my own family and, sad to say, they have lost my respect.
