Good morning peevers.

Yet another glorious morning, frost on the ground and sun in the sky.

Mrs J's car is about to be picked up and taken in for its annual service. Also, as it is coming up to three years old, it is required from now on to go for an annual road worthiness test called (for short) the MOT.

That got me thinking about warranties and guarantees.

We've had a post about this before, but frankly I can't think of a new one every day.

Let's have the POTD centred around this, and it is;

Products going wrong just as the guarantee expires.

I think it's planned that way. There's a little computer chip programmed with the date and inserted in the whatever.

But don't tell anyone I told you. It's a secret.

It's called a planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence.
Products are made specifically not to last. Otherwise only few would buy new products.
There is an excellent video documentary made about it:
Pyramids of Waste (2010), AKA The Lightbulb Conspiracy - Planned obsolescence documentary - 7 Translation(s) | Dotsub
little long, but very interesting! It explains why...

Thanks for that you two, and especially for that article elnina.

Here with some more shots from my saunter round Old Sarum last month.

The first shot is a photo of how Old Sarum looked around 900 years ago.

That seems to happen quite often. An unfortunate coincidence, perhaps.

I had an original iPod with, I believe, a 2 year warranty. Within the week of the warranty expiring, the battery completely died. WHY?!!!!!!!!!

Happened to me more than once. Something will work perfectly until about 1 hour after the warranty expired

Awesome pics Jezer! I love being able to see what it used to look like and what it looks like today! What a great place to visit! Thank you Jezer for another lovely vacation visit! More pics for my file!!! Yea!!!

My dishwasher died a couple weeks ago just after the warrenty was out. Huge, Major BUMMER!!!!! I cook so much every day that having a dishwasher is a real necessity in my world. Now it seems most all I do in the house is cook and wash dishes. Sheesh! So now I am on the hunt for a new one, and believe me, it's gonna have a serious extended warranty on it or they don't get my money!!!!!!

Great peeve Jezer! This one can probably rotate here fairly often because it's something we all contend with most everyday. If it's not one thing falling apart or dying, it's another!
Elnina is spot on with that link too! Thanks Elnina!!!

That reminds me of the Indian burial mounds. Much smaller than what you've got in those photos.

This one is close to the Mississippi River near the Metal Museum if you want to look it up on Google Earth or just Google Maps.

The indentation on the right is a bricked up hatch due to the mounds being used for storage of contraband during the Civil War.
