Sounds like it. It pays to ask about the car they're renting, if it's not easily within sight.

"Someone taking advantage of your lack of knowledge to give, or should I say sell, you something you wouldn't otherwise go for."

Sounds like my brother.

I'm a hard sale to make. I usually know what I want/need and turn a deaf ear to the "extras" sales pitch.

Good peeve, unfortunately there are a lot of deceptive salesmen out there. Right after high school I worked as a salesman in the electronics department in a department store and I worked with some of those guys. I never tried to deceive anybody into buying something they didn't need or want. Some of those other salesmen thought I was crazy and they thought I would quit within a week but guess what? I made more money off commissions that 90 percent of those other guys!...lol. My customers trusted me so they would always ask for me when they came back to buy other stuff. Sadly, some of those other salesmen never learned that lesson.

Checking complaints boards I find that most stuff offered on TV is just a way
to get your credit card number and charge you for products you didn't know you were agreeing to by giving out your credit card number.
(along with various fees, shipping, handling etc.)
I never realized how widespread this practice was until recently...
If I want to try something out I can usually find it at WalMart and
return it if I'm not satisfied. Not everything you see on TV is offered
in stores of course but please check reviews online before calling for
something you saw on television...
