Today's Question(s):
In honor of all the cook-outs and picnics this weekend.
Which way do you eat corn on the cob?
Circular, with a mostly left to right direction. Like a typewriter.

Bonus Question:
What was your first job where you got paid by someone other than your parents?
The first job more official than mowing lawns: working in a grocery store bagging groceries and mopping the floor at night.

Extra Credit Question:
Have you ever forgot to tell someone “The rest of the story” and because we won't tell anyone, did you really forget?
We likely all have. The older you get the more you know when to .

Just for Fun:
So you win a pet monkey at a fair...What would be the trick?
Can that thing do taxes?

Today is:
Newspaper Carrier Day I didn't know newspapers were contagious.

Bonus Question:
What was your first job where you got paid by someone other than your parents?
Well, I babysat from the time I was 13 - 18. At 18, I got a job at Luby's Cafeteria, serving bread. I lasted a week, after calling this mean lady a bich under my breath. LOL!!!

Extra Credit Question:
In honor of Paul Harvey's birthday. Have you ever forgot to tell someone “The rest of the story” and because we won't tell anyone, did you really forget? No, I pretty much insist on people hearing my story from beginning to end!!! LOL

Just for Fun:
So you win a pet monkey at a fair, but this isn't just any old monkey. It can do one trick for you whenever you want from getting a pop out of the fridge to washing your clothes or hair. What would be the trick?

Usually it's because someone butts in and I figure "screw it."

Winning the lottery!

Today in History:
1886 Apache Chief Geronimo surrenders ending the last major American-Indian war. Enter the casino!
1893 English author Beatrix Potter first tells the story of Peter Rabbit. Wasn't that a song?
1951 First transcontinental TV broadcast, by US President Truman
19 57 Ford Motor Co introduces Edsel. Hah, hah, hah!!!
1972 American swimmer, Mark Spitz, becomes first athlete to win 7 Olympic gold medals. And announces he is HIV positive. All the other divers appreciate the Hell out that!
1991 Rte 35 Theater in Hazlit closes, last drive-in in NJ

We said hello to:
1917 Henry Ford II, automaker (Ford Motor Co)
1918 Paul Harvey, Tulsa OK, Radio broadcaster.
1949 Tom Watson, Kansas City, MO, golfer.

We said goodbye to:
1965 Albert Schweitzer, 90, German/French missionary, (1954 Nobel)
1975 Walter Tetley, 60, cartoon voice (Sherman on Rocky & Bullwinkle) Here I thought he produced tea...
1993 Herve Villechaize, 50, actor (Fantasy Island) self inflected gunshot. De plane, De plane! Sucked...

Word of the day
Decafalon:* n The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only beverages with no caffeine

Does anyone actually do this?

Today is:
International Drive Your Studebaker Day. It really is I didn't make this up
Newspaper Carrier Day
Oatmeal Day

Babble

Beautiful weather. Which means fall is approaching.

We went to Rock Bottom today and sat on the outside patio. The first time for quite a while. The fish and chips (Mrs. Tek) was Cod instead of Salmon and she was not impressed. I got Titan Toothpicks, which were NOT what they used to be. I got four and ate less than two. Whatever they did to change them was disgusting. Seriously gross food. Never again.

On the other hand the beer was amazing.

We are in the midst of replacing some windows and getting some trim and siding replaced. You know the crappy economy we are all experiencing? Apparently it is not affecting our area. Any work we want done might get done this fall/winter. Maybe not. Everyone is so busy they can't promise work being done this year.

Economy? Doing fine here. At least for this type of work.

I stopped taking Gabapentin a week ago yesterday. So far the results are good. No dizziness and the "barrier" I felt in my forehead is gone. I had some withdrawal symptoms for a few days, but they seem to be gone. I've had little pain from my Sciatica or the pain I get in my fingers, shoulder, hips, etc. I'm hanging in there!

Hey, have a great weekend holiday.
