That's me every night Was taking something to help with that and stress, but stopped taking it a couple of months ago because I really don't like taking meds - especially long term. I've since remembered why I started taking it in the first place. Only way I can shut off my brain is to have a movie going that I've seen a million times so I don't want to "watch" it, but my brain focuses on the dialogue.

I go through periods when I do this, too. It is usually when I'm stewing about something. I take 5 mg of melatonin before I go to bed. I don't really know if it does anything or if I just think it does, but it seems to help.
Also, I can't have any caffein except for in the morning, or it keeps me awake at night. If, for example, you've started getting a coffee drink in the afternoon that you didn't have before, it could be affecting you.

Same here and then when I do fall asleep I wake up because I have to pee

I would try to watch some TV but our stupid TV makes this really loud beep when you turn it on and I don't want to wake my hubby. It can't be turned off at least according to the manual. I'll have to call Sony about that. Why do companies design such stupid things? I really don't need to announce to anyone within hearing distance that I am turning the TV on

Same here.

That trait was a drawback when I used to comute 35 miles to work for a 3 AM job.

An advantage of getting older is I can still fall asleep easly at night, but no longer struggle to stay awake driving.
