BANANAS!

- Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off of it. That's how the primates do it.

- Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store.
If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

- Clean your leather handbag or your shoes with a banana skin, and just buff with a soft duster to shine save buying polish.

- Always keep bananas separately from other fruits unless you want the other fruit to ripen quickly.

- What to do with a brown banana? Add it to a curry. Best with veggie or lentil - adds a certain fruitiness without being a definite taste.

Bananas cause an odor in perspiration that attracts mosquitoes, do not eat before any outdoor activities.

You know how bananas have sides to them with several ridges along the spine? Well, the less defined the ridges are - so the rounder/fatter the banana is - the sweeter it will be. It means it was able to stay on the tree longer for ripening before shipping. Most of the bananas available to us on the mainland were picked too early in order to survive shipping without getting overripe before purchase.
