Mosquitoes are biting and you don't have any lotions or potions handy? A dab of one of these also works for itch relief:

1. Nail Polish
2. Strong tea mixed with rubbing alcohol. (Also, a hot tea bag pressed against the bite area works. Make it as hot as possible.)
3. Toothpaste (try it--it really works)
4. Mouthwash
5. Vinegar (apply directly to bite or take a hot bath with 2 cups of vinegar in the water)
6. Honey (has anyone tried this? I'm not sure I see why honey would work, but it was on the list so I'm including it.)
7. Underarm deodorant (solid or roll-on; apply directly to bite area). Now this one I've tried, and it works!
8. Rubbing alcohol
9. Ammonia
10. Lemon juice

Tip of The Day features ideas I hear about--not always ones I've tried. They sound good to me in theory and who knows--some of them (hopefully most of them) may be brilliant. Anyway, the point of this thread is to start some fun conversations. By all means jump in and add jokes, comments, and even your own tips, if you'd like.

I like the idea of rubbing the skeeters between my hands to get even...

LOL, too bad all I have is blood red nail polish. If I dabbed it on every bite I have people might wonder if I had the chicken pox! Maybe I should try the toothpaste? At least that way my bites will smell minty fresh.

Are these to prevent bites or to stop the itching?

I'm pretty sure it's only to stop the itching.
