I prefer the north side of the Orlando metro area (north of the 408) versus the south side of the metro area. Both areas have their good and bad. However I have felt the most at home on the north side of the metro area. I moved to the Orlando area in 2003. The neighborhood I moved to in 2003 was close to Universal Studios. The area just never felt like home and people were always moving in and out. Maybe it was to close to the tourist area that also was the reason I didn't feel at home on this side of town. Two years later I moved to the Altamonte Springs/Longwood area and have been here ever since. The north side has the more established neighborhoods, older trees and farmer markets. It also has hidden gems such mom & pop businesses and lots of parks (Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, and Sanford mostly).
