we are flying into Daytona in March - any suggestions for a place to eat dinner - it will be a Mom and a Junior in HS- going to look at a few colleges- anyplace that isn't too crazy with a bunch of spring break college kids- if that is even possible- if not we will head on to Deland- thought it may just be fun to see since we've never been before-

Definitely check out Mango's in Daytona Beach Shores. It is in the Castaway building on A1A. Awesome comfort food and they have karaoke Friday and Saturday nights. Not many spring breakers there, more of an adult crowd.

thanks- we are now flying in later than planned and I think it will be too crowded to deal with traffic etc.

Here's a place with outdoor dining on the River in downtown Daytona Beach called Caribbean Jack's that's less than 2 miles from the Daytona Beach airport and is open late and is more frequented by locals than tourists (so not usually crowded like the beach strip). Excellent prices, food and atmosphere. You can put their address at the bottom of the web page in your GPS or print driving directions before you fly:
Caribbean Jack's Restaurant and Bar - Daytona's Favorite Waterfront Restaurant & Bar

If you get in past 2am, don't panic -- there are plenty of fast food, Denny's, Waffle House and IHOP restaurants across from the airport along Int'l Speedway Blvd (US92), between Clyde Morris Blvd + I-95 that still will be open 24/7!

Last time we were in the area, we ate at "Fresh" - an italian place out on Nova (or is it on Ridgewood?). Good food and atmosphere, much better than Olive Garden, though the prices were a bit more dear, as well.

Lookin' forward to the day I can offer more advice... after I make the move to become a local. :-) Approximately 2 years and 2 months... *sigh* That means two more Kentucky winters...

Aunt Catfish's on the Dunlawton Causway is always good if you want to be on the water (intercoastal) and have some good seafood!
