All of those things are easily avoidable in the Orlando area. You just gotta pick the right place.

Well, dont regret it twice. Do lots of homework before deciding on Orlando. By looking at what bothered you in Miami, I encourage you to look into Jax, although crime may not be any better in Jax.

Not so sure about that one. Orlando's crime seems to be pretty widespread and it doesnt seem to be in just certain locations. Sure some areas are worse, but crime definitely seeps into nicer areas in Orlando too. The constant spanish speaking thing, I'm gonna leave that one alone.

have you ever been to Oviedo, Winter Springs, Lake Mary, Clermonte, Windemere, etc? Those places and others have no major crime issues, probably the same types of crime that you deal with in any regular suburban town in America. Its not something that should keep someone from moving here. No one on this planet is 100% safe. Orlando has some great places to offer.

Those would be good choices in relation to crime.

There are very few places in Orlando even among the Hispanic community where people cannot speak English. Most people are bilingual and so you will hear more Spanish spoken in the stores, neighborhoods, restaurants, etc. in certain neighborhoods. I do not really see why that is a big deal. Also crime has been going down dramatically this year. There are a lot of great options in and out of Orlando and in the metro area.

Sometimes it's not about the language being spoken, but the attitudes.

I cant speak for all of Orlando on this matter.

But I can tell you that where I live (32828), the attitudes, the driving styles, and the sense of entitlement is astounding. Especially among the younger generation. Bringing gangs to our area, the attitudes, the disrespect.

There is a lot of crime and poverty in Jacksonville unless you live on the south side and beaches of the city.

Jacksonville is a pretty much laid back and spread out city blue - collar good ole boy network government, not as much today as in the past, but things move slowly here and in certain parts of town.

It is a decent city if you are in the military and wanting to raise or have a present family.

Orlando is a beautiful and clean city with lakes and Mickey Mouse, but has become spread out and heavily populated over the last decade or two,if I were to live in an area it would be Altamonte Springs ,Longwood,Cassel berry or Maitland, stick mainly with the nortside of the city.

I prefer the north side as well. I would add Lake Mary, Winter Park, and the nicer historic areas around downtown to that. I think the east side of Orlando is getting a lot of crime intrusion from neighboring areas from what I hear on this forum.

I think that has a lot more to do with the Northeast mentality than the Latino mentality. I know a lot of Puerto Ricans who are not from New York who are very adamant that this is not how PRicans behave and are just as bothered by the mentality and behavior as anyone else. Just read any of the mani US or City vs. city threads with all the New Yorkers and their bullish and entitled opinions. I hate broad generalizations but I see a lot of really bad conclusions drawn unfairly about Hispanic people in the Orlando area that are not all true. The same way I am sure not everyone in the NE is this way but it is a prevalent thinking pattern up there.
