I know a few people who like(d) living in Jax. I believe they are experiencing the same thing as Orlando with increased crime. I'm sure it's like every other city, make sure you research and move to a safe area.

I have lived in Jacksonville but not Orlando, but based on that, and knowing what i know about Orlando, definitely go with Jacksonville

I totally agree w/you PG77...however, nothing is selling in MCO unless you give them the barn....friends of mine were traveling north yesterday and went through Jacksonville and they stated traffic was a nightmare and they should of gone around the other end, whatever that route is. Is JAX building new intrastates or is it 1-95 and is it 264? MCO is a nightmare since the main road is I-4 and it is 21 miles from home to get there..

I-95 shouldnt even loop around Jacksonville the way it does, they have it connected with their beltway so go around the city in their beltway until u continue to go south towards St Augustine, Palm Coast, and Daytona. It shouldnt be interconnected with Jacksonville at all considering 95 is the main route to South Florida pretty much and it just adds for more traffic.

Hi!

I'm in Jax. No significant increase in crime. We have our crime for sure, but the bulk of it is localized in the NW quadrant of Jax. That area of the city is economically depressed, and unfortunately, cime goes hand-in-hand with that.

It's a big city so you need to keep your eyes peeled like any other city. I've had no crime issues in Jax and I've been in the area for roughly a decade. I'm familiar with crime, I hail from NYC, and I feel pretty safe here.

Sorry your friends experienced that...it is temporary. There is contruction virtually everywhere in Jax right now. We're in a big growth period and road expansions and infrastructure development has become the norm. The predictions seem to be that we'll be over the hump in just a few more years.

Sounds like your friends might have been travelling I295/9A which is just about completed. It is a loop around downtown that is already well-loved and well-used (i live right off of it myself and use it all the time).
